Across South Florida — and the country — private equity firms are buying up dental and orthodontic practices at a record pace, rolling them into corporate chains built to be flipped for a return. The doctor on the door often isn't the owner anymore; investors are. And when investors own the practice, the math changes: production quotas, call centers, revolving-door providers, and treatment plans shaped by quarterly targets. Profits over patients. That model can work fine for shareholders. It rarely works better for the family in the chair.

Napoli Orthodontics is one of the few remaining private, doctor-owned-and-operated orthodontic practices on the Treasure Coast. Nobody in a boardroom tells us how to treat you. Dr. Napoli answers to exactly one group of people: his patients — his neighbors. A Florida native — born, raised, and educated entirely in the state — he lives, works, and is raising his family right here in Martin County. His daughters will grow up alongside the kids he treats. When your name is on the door and your kids are in the same schools, “profits over patients” simply isn't an option.
